Murray Chambers is proud to bear the name of The Honourable Michael John Murray AM KC, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the law, the legal profession and the community of Western Australia.

​

Justice Murray enjoyed a distinguished legal career spanning more than four decades. Admitted to practice in 1965, he became Western Australia's youngest Chief Crown Prosecutor before being appointed Queen's Counsel in 1984. In 1990, he was appointed to the Supreme Court of Western Australia, where he served with distinction for 22 years, becoming the Court's Senior Puisne Judge and one of the State's most respected judicial officers. Following his retirement, he continued his service to the community through several significant public appointments and remained a passionate advocate for legal education and the mentoring of future generations of lawyers.

While his professional achievements were remarkable, Justice Murray was equally admired for the qualities that defined him as a person. He was known for his integrity, fairness, humility, courtesy and generosity of spirit—qualities that earned him the admiration and respect of colleagues, the profession and the wider community.

The decision to name Murray Chambers by founding member in his honour reflects these enduring values. They continue to guide our Chambers in the pursuit of excellence in advocacy, collegiality, integrity, respect and service to the profession.
